June 3rd Update (Final State of Weapon Tuning)
Starting Monday, June 3rd, the following updates will be applied to Halo 4 War Games Matchmaking: Battle Rifle The Battle Rifle damage has been increased. The Battle Rifle is now capable of killing in four bursts. The Battle Rifle rate of fire has been slightly decreased. The Battle Rifle red reticle range (range at which auto-aim benefits kick in) has been decreased. Two bursts from a Battle Rifle followed by a melee will now kill an opponent (2-shot melee). Carbine The Carbine damage has been increased. The Carbine is now capable of killing in seven rounds. The Carbine accuracy has been increased (projectile spread decrease). The Carbine red reticle range has been decreased. LightRifle The LightRifle zoomed rate of fire has been increased. The LightRifle un-zoomed rate of fire has been slightly decreased. The LightRifle red reticle range has been increased to match the updated DMR range. DMR The DMR red reticle range has been slightly decreased. Assault Rifle The Assault Rifle damage has been slightly increased. The Assault Rifle now kills in three less rounds. The Assault Rifle auto-aim angle has been reduced. The Assault Rifle projectile spread has been decreased. Storm Rifle The Storm Rifle damage has been increased. The Storm Rifle now kills in three less rounds. The Storm Rifle auto-aim angle has been reduced. The Storm Rifle projectile spread has been decreased. Suppressor The Suppressor damage has been increased. The Suppressor now kills in three less rounds. The Suppressor auto-aim angle has been reduced. The Suppressor projectile spread has been decreased. SAW The damage has been increased to maintain double the damage-per-second of the Assault Rifle. Magnum The damage has been slightly increased. The Magnum is still capable of killing in six rounds. Vehicles The damage has been increased on both the Mantis and Warthog Chain Gun. Lastly, base player movement speed has been increased from 100% to 110% across all playlists and modes. All of these balance tweaks will be released this coming Monday in order to provide a more fast-paced, optimized matchmaking experience, and all of Halo 4’s applicable Matchmaking game types will be affected by this change. Team Snipers, Grifball, and Action Sack’s Rock N’ Rail will not see any changes, however, as the weapons in these game types are not affected. Some game types (such as Action Sack’s Lightning Flag), will not receive the change due to the preferred pace and balance in the current tuning. Moving forward, select game types in the Action Sack playlist may use alternate weapon tuning, and we will be sure to provide information on these game types when the time comes. In addition to the above, the following updates are also being made to Matchmaking: The “Slayer Pro” game mode in Big Team Infinity Slayer and Infinity Slayer will now have an Assault Rifle loadout. Also, the “Global Skill searching,” or CSR matching duration, will be increased once again for all playlists. This increase will help ensure that Matchmaking is primarily searching for both teammates and opponents at your per-playlist CSR level. As mentioned last week, we will continue to monitor the speed at which players are being matched, as well as the consistency of CSR matching. In an effort to always offer DLC content in Matchmaking, we are happy to announce that the Majestic DLC playlist will return next week as the “featured DLC” playlist. We will continue to offer a variety of DLC maps in this slot, and may update the game types, maps, and even team sizes moving forward to keep DLC content fresh and available in Halo 4 Matchmaking. The Community Forge Island playlist will be retired, as the maps will return to the hands of the talented Forgers who created them so that they can be fine-tuned and possibly integrated into existing playlists. Special thanks to the Forgers, Community Cartographers, and all the players who made this playlist a success. In Capture the Flag, the overtime period has been increased from one minute to two minutes in order to allow for even more nail-biting, and “big party matching” has been turned on, which ensures that parties of three or more will get matched with parties of three or more. In King of the Hill, the hill point limit has been increased from 25 to 50, and the score to win has been increased from 150 points to 250 points to provide more control-based game play. Lastly, the multiplayer design team has been updating all of Halo 4’s maps with new weapon (ordnance) locations, new weapon drops, updated starting and objective spawns, and even new Forge objects to diversify and balance gameplay. For example, Haven now uses Red / Blue spawns, lifts, and colored halls across all game types, Abandon has some crates added as well as a central, equidistant Overshield for optimized map flow, and much more. Some maps have received updates to vehicle locations and selection as well. We expect these updates to slightly change up the way these maps are played and help freshen up the Matchmaking experience. BTBnet Spring Challenge
So, you think you know competitive Halo, eh? I'm sure when you hear the terms "competitive Halo" you close your eyes and picture maps like Sanctuary, The Pit, Midship, Lockout, or the smaller maps of old. What if I told you that you were programmed to believe that's the only form of competitive Halo there is, when in reality it is much, much bigger? Big Team Battle doubles the meager 4v4 variants and pits two teams of eight players against one another, featuring a much more expansive offering of the Halo sandbox. And yes, it's competitive too. BigTeamBattle.net is hosting a Prize Money tournament this spring with the help of DaveEasily, to pit 8 teams against one another for a $1000 grand prize. Although at its heart, the tournament is an invitational, excess teams can battle through a play-in tournament the day before the official tournament on May 4th. PAX East 2013!
Master Theory will be attending their first PAX Event! Taking place in the charming old city of Boston, Massachusetts from March 21st-24th, PAX East is an internet, gaming and electronic Expo. With panels discussing various topics of those genres, tournaments, exhibitor booths with demos of upcoming games, free swag and much much more, PAX events are a gamer nerds dream! Not only does MT get to partake in this exciting weekend, TsengMao x MT and Vanirfreyja have been personally invited by 343 to attend their Pre-PAX party, hosted by Mad Katz, where they will be able to play the new Castle Map Pack before it's released to the public! But that's not all, they've also been invited to a Face-to-Face session with the lovely Jessica Shea, a.k.a BS Angel, community content manager for 343, right at their booth! The other day I was pulling out of the Bank of America parking lot and was forced to wait for this truck when I noticed the giant I <3 MT (food stuffs). How y'all doin tonight? It is currently 3:45 AM and I should probably be in bed but I figured it was about time I write an update for the site. A few things first. GOOOOOOD MORNING MASTER THEORY!!!!
Yeah yeah I know, it's not exactly morning anymore, but I started typing this at work when it was. Plus it just sounds better than good afternoon. First things first. Season One of the OFFICIAL BTB.net League has BEGUN! Rosters locked last night and the ladders are live! A huge congratulations to Triton, Molly, and the entire staff over at BTB.net for their hard work! (mostly Triton and Molly). BEE TEE Dubs, I totally helped out with the little weapon icons. HUGE contribution on my part. Just letting you know. We ended the Winter Invitational at second place but don't let that get you cocky! There are plenty of new teams and new competition this season! MT's Official Cheerleader (Asian) has started a team called Wake Up so I'm definitely looking forward to some games against him! Also a quick shout out to Iron Fox! They didn't participate in the Winter Invitational but I hope we'll be setting up some practice scrims with you all! Head on over to Autumn Forge to check them out! Congratulations Master Theory on your win last night over Sudden Death! Awesome games guys! I was watching Raptzor's stream the whole time. If you missed them, the games can be found here. Helloooooo Master Theory! Good games to all who participated in the MT vs. Xtr3m match. It was a tough first round but you guys did your best! Next time I'll ask Asian how to bridge host to make the games more fair. lolololjk! I don't actually know what that means. (I'm seriously seriously kidding about this comment. I do NOT condone cheating and am just trying to enjoy a bad joke.) Best of luck to you guys when you face Chimmy Chongas on Friday! I know you'll all kick ass! Gonna update with a bunch of random tidbits of information. Quite a few congratulations to go out today. Happy 4th of July!
Happy Independence Day to my fellow countrymen and wimminz! And a happy July 4th to all you non-americans! Just another Monday to you isn't it? :D I hope you've all had a safe and SPLENDID weekend. I'll be in Wisconsin for the day but I wanted to update before I head out. A quick congratulations to XBL Method who is the newest member of Master Theory. Be sure to send him messages of congrats and well wishes. He's already changed his gamertag to Method x MT. Obviously, he's a much better member than I am :D A big thank you to all our members who shell out the ten bucks to represent; making it easier for people to recognize the Master Theory name :D Btw Method, I'm totally the one who added you to the front page roster cus I'm like soooo nice and awesome. lol. Sup guys and... gals (sadly not too many girly parts round here). Posting a short update. Congratulations to Team Optional Boss who finished 1st in the GGN 4v4 Tournament and to Your Princess is in Another Castle who placed 5th. There were too many games involved so I didn't update with the stats =D You guys all did a great job though; proving that Master Theory can 4v4 as well as we 8v8. Just a reminder that sign-ups have begun for the 2011 GGN 1v1 Tournament. Let's see Cloud take 1st again this year! zomg! tits!
*gasp* What's this? Jenny is updating the front page?! Not only is Master Theory getting an update but Jenny is actually participating in MT!? (who's idea was it anyway to give Jenny the power to post tits on the front page?) Yes, I'm still an active (<-debatable) MT member. And although there's the GGN 4v4 tournament as well as the HC BTB tourney I could and should be updating about, I'm not going to. Instead I'm going to talk about Master Theory and (as cliche as it sounds), what it means to me. If you look at our roster you'll find 24 members; and at the moment we're still accepting applications. "24 members!? But that makes three entire BTB teams! That's preposterous!" It's not though. When a friend of mine considering joining MT, I told him it's more than joining just a team. You'll create real relationships with people who'll worm their way into your lives and ask for your number, then actually use it. You'll become part of a site that's used to discuss strats (that haven't been updated in ages <cough>AUDLEY</cough>), question Ted's sexuality, and even to post pictures or videos that can either be used for blackmail or to cause great lulz. Master Theory has never been just a big team. We're a community who participates in the Good Gaming Network, HCPL Challenges, BigTeamBattle.net, as well as a multitude of other activities. Of course when I talked to my friend about it, I gave a much more half-assed response that went something along the lines of, "OMG I'M IN MT, THAT MEANS YOU SHOULD BE TOO! LOLOLOL!!!" We still consider our not so active members part of the team; their names stay on the roster. And should they decide to hop on Reach for the first time in forever, we’ll all be more than happy to have them on. We strive to be the best not just at the game, but as a community. So next time you wonder why we’re such a large team or want complain that you can never keep track of who’s on our roster, try to remember it’s because we’re all friends. We’re part of each other’s lives on and off Halo. We’re more than just a BTB team.

MT, we're kind of a big deal......
With the talents of Triton and Smyf at the helm, MT's new site is now live. We still have a ways to go, and a few more features to add... but we are almost there. I personally say a big thank you to both of them, and can't wait to see what the future holds. In the transition we lost a few months worth of forums, so some people may need to sign back up and post a new intro. Enjoy everyone!!!
